Your co-parenting record may end up in front of a judge. Here's exactly how we protect it — and what we will and won't say about it.

Liaison.legal protects co-parenting records with cryptographic hashing (SHA-256), a tamper-evident hash chain linking each message to the one before it, encryption in transit and at rest, and strict access controls over who can ever view a record. Messages can't be quietly edited or deleted after they're sent. Attorneys get access only to their own client's record, and only the parties to a matter and their authorized professionals can see it.

What "tamper-evident" means

Every message is run through SHA-256 — a one-way cryptographic fingerprint — and each fingerprint is chained to the one before it. If anyone tried to alter or remove a past message, the chain would break and the change would be detectable. That's what lets your record answer the question every court asks: can we trust that this wasn't changed after the fact?

(We say "tamper-evident," not "immutable," because it's the accurate word: the integrity of the record is verifiable.)

Who can see your messages

Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is tightly controlled: only the parties to a matter and the professionals they authorize can view a record. Attorney access is limited to that attorney's own client. We are honest about one thing many apps gloss over — when an attorney activates the forensic audit on a matter, the system processes the messages on that matter to perform the analysis. We don't pretend a tool that reads the record can't read the record. What we promise is that access is controlled, limited, logged, and never sold.

What we never do with your data
